Blues Brothers Roofing Company, a trusted name in Boca Raton, Florida, has been providing roof replacement and repair services for nearly 20 years. When a vintage single-family home in Palm Beach County required a new roof, the homeowners knew exactly who to call.
This 2,209-square-foot home, originally built in 1968 and remodeled in 1990, needed a roofing system that could endure the severe weather conditions of Boca Raton, including intense sunlight, heavy rainfall, and occasional hurricanes. The new roof had to offer exceptional structural integrity to prevent leaks, minimize potential damage, and improve energy efficiency.
Blues Brothers Roofing Company was up to the task, providing expert solutions to meet all of these requirements. Their team of skilled professionals specializes in comprehensive roof replacement and repair services, designed to protect homes from South Florida’s demanding weather.
Whether dealing with a leaky roof, damaged tiles, or significant structural issues, Blues Brothers is known for its swift response, transparent pricing, and precise workmanship, ensuring a seamless and worry-free experience for homeowners.
Blues Brothers does not take roof replacements lightly. For this particular roofing project, they chose to collaborate with Polyglass USA to ensure the use of only the highest quality roofing materials and methods, ensuring a professional and efficient new roof installation.
Despite the project’s challenges, the team successfully navigated a range of third-party requirements, including compliance with wind mitigation insurance standards, Class A fire ratings, and rigorous building code regulations. The roof also had to be completely watertight, which is especially challenging when dealing with both sloped and flat sections.
To meet these demands, Blues Brothers turned to Polyglass USA and its renowned fire-rated underlayment, Polystick® XFR. This high-performance product made it easier to meet a variety of building codes and insurance requirements.
Here’s how the system was implemented:
Polyglass USA’s Polystick® XFR was applied beneath the steep-slope metal roofing. This self-adhered waterproofing underlayment is specifically engineered for metal roofs and offers superior fire resistance. Its split-release film ensures a hassle-free application process by protecting the self-adhesive compound.
For the low-slope portion of the roof, a multi-layer Polyglass assembly was used. The process began with Elastobase® V, a high-quality SBS base membrane reinforced with a fiberglass mat. This product is known for its superior waterproofing and weathering properties, enhancing the roof’s overall strength and dimensional stability.
Next, Elastoflex SA V, a self-adhered elastomeric base ply roofing product, was applied to the low-slope areas. This premium product, made using Polyglass’ patented ADESO® Dual-Compound Self-Adhered Technology, features a true Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene (SBS) modified asphalt compound on the top layer and an aggressive self-adhesive compound on the bottom layer.
Following this, Polyflex® SA P, a self-adhered APP (plastomeric) granulated cap sheet designed for low-slope roofing, was applied. Manufactured with Polyglass’ proprietary ADESO® Self-Adhered Dual-Compound Technology, Polyflex® SA P boasts a true Atactic Polypropylene (APP) modified asphalt compound on the top layer, with a tough, non-woven polyester reinforcement that provides enhanced flexibility, dimensional stability, and excellent resistance to tears and punctures.
The combination of these Polyglass USA products ensured the creation of a robust, watertight, and weather-resistant roofing system that met the stringent standards of roofing contractors, insurance companies, and building codes alike.
Finally, a new metal roof was installed over the Polystick® XFR underlayment, completing the project with a durable, reliable roofing solution. Both the contractor and the homeowner were extremely satisfied with the outcome—a roof that will stand the test of time.
“Polyglass creates outstanding products, which saves contractors like me valuable time and allows me to focus on delivering an exceptional customer experience and attending to the finer details of the project. Their products are designed with precision right from the factory,” said Steve Festa, owner of Blues Brothers Roofing Company.

Product Spotlight
Polystick XFR
A self-adhered waterproofing underlayment with superior fire resistance, designed for metal roof panels. With ADESO® dual-compound, self-adhered technology, Polystick XFR features a polymer-modified bitumen upper compound and a proprietary self-adhesive SBS (elastomeric) compound on the bottom. A split-release film that protects the self-adhesive compound allows for easy application.
Polyglass’ exclusive Burn-Shield Technology® offers exceptional fire and ember resistance, making it ideal for areas where these properties are either required or highly desirable. With a temperature tolerance of up to 265°F, Polystick XFR is perfectly suited for high-temperature roofing systems, including those with copper, aluminum, or steel panels. The product also features a cavitated, anti-skid top film surface that can be exposed for up to 180 days.
Polystick XFR can be integrated into a multi-ply underlayment system, serving as a secondary layer above Polystick MTS Plus or as part of a two-ply Polystick XFR assembly.
Elastobase V
Elastobase V is a premium Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene (SBS) modified bitumen roofing membrane, reinforced with a high-quality fiberglass mat to deliver exceptional strength and excellent dimensional stability. The proprietary SBS compound provides superior waterproofing and weather resistance. Elastobase V is specifically designed as a base ply layer in multi-layer low-slope roofing assemblies. Do not apply Elastobase V directly onto existing shingles or other unacceptable roof coverings.
Elastoflex SA V
Elastoflex SA V is a premium, self-adhered elastomeric base ply roofing membrane, crafted using the patented ADESO® Dual-Compound Self-Adhered Technology. This innovative process applies a “true” Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene (SBS) modified asphalt compound to the top layer, while the bottom layer is coated with a highly aggressive self-adhesive compound. The membrane is reinforced with a high-performance fiberglass mat, ensuring exceptional dimensional stability.
The Elastoflex SA V membrane is finished with either a sand or polyolefin film with laylines on the top surface and a split-release film on the bottom surface for easy installation.
Polyflex SA P
Polyflex SA P is a self-adhered APP granulated cap sheet designed for low-slope roofing. Using Polyglass’ patented ADESO® Dual-Compound Technology, it features a top layer of true Atactic Polypropylene (APP) modified asphalt and a bottom layer of aggressive self-adhesive compound. Reinforced with a durable non-woven polyester, it offers flexibility, dimensional stability, and superior tear and puncture resistance.
Polyflex SA P also includes SEALLap® ULTRA for a stronger side lap bond and FASTLap® for granule-free end laps, ensuring easier installation and improved long-term performance. When paired with Elastoflex SA V or Elastoflex SA V PLUS, it simplifies the application process, eliminating the need for torches, hot asphalt, or adhesives.
