When Ramon Roofing Inc. was chosen to remove and replace a slate roof on an estate in Colleyville, Texas, they knew they needed the best materials and a reliable partner for the task. That’s when Polyglass USA stepped in, providing the ultimate self adhesive roofing underlayment and the expertise required for this challenging project.
The job required the removal and replacement of 240 squares of slate, which had to be hand-blended before installation. These dense tiles help regulate a home’s temperature and reduce energy costs. And they’re fire-resistant and environmentally friendly.
The limited ground access for removing and replacing the tiles, coupled with the massive size of the project and the extremely steep pitch of 16/12 (equivalent to a 133.3% slope), presented significant logistical hurdles. Despite these challenges, the Ramon Roofing team remained undeterred.
To address the project’s demands, Ramon Roofing’s sheet metal team custom-fabricated copper valleys, flashings, standing seam panels, vents, and decorative dormers. They also installed new K-style seamless copper gutters and downspouts, which added a distinctive luxury aesthetic to the home. The meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail resulted in a roof that was not only functional but also visually stunning.
The project’s success was recognized with a Golden Hammer Award for Outstanding Residential Tile Project from the North Texas Roofing Contractors Association (NTRCA). The Golden Hammer Awards honor outstanding roofing projects, with entries judged on criteria such as logistical challenges, quality workmanship, uniqueness, difficulty, time constraints, innovative solutions, and safety challenges. Winning this award highlighted the exceptional effort and skill that went into completing the Palmeiro Project.
