Polyglass USA Introduces New Superior Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) Line

Wildland Urban Interface

At Polyglass, we are proud to introduce our latest innovation: the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) product line, meticulously crafted to surpass the stringent requirements of the California Building and Residential Codes. Our flagship products, Polystick XFR, and Polyanchor XFR, are engineered for effortless installation, ensuring convenience without compromising quality.

The wildland-urban interface area (WUI) represents a critical junction between natural landscapes and human settlements, presenting elevated risks from both building vulnerabilities and environmental hazards like wildfires.

In California, in recent years, Wildland-Urban Interfaces (WUIs) have presented an especially significant danger due to the surge in wildfires and arid conditions. To safeguard residents in these regions, the state has established updated building codes, which include stringent criteria for allowable building materials.

In response, Polyglass has tailored a distinct product range specifically designed to address the unique challenges of WUI environments, thereby enhancing safety and mitigating fire hazards.

Central to our WUI line’s development was the pursuit of high-performance fireproof membranes, offering unparalleled protection and cost-effectiveness for structures located in forests and wildfire-prone regions. Both Polystick XFR and Polyanchor XFR feature our revolutionary ADESO® dual-compound self-adhered technology, alongside our patented Burn Shield® Technology, ensuring exceptional ember resistance and achieving Class A protection as prescribed by the revised California Fire Code.

Polystick XFR

polystick xfr

Polystick XFR stands out as a self-adhered waterproofing underlayment meticulously engineered to offer fire resistance specifically tailored for metal roof coverings. Enhanced by our proprietary Burn-Shield Technology®, it delivers exceptional defense against ember infiltration. Boasting a remarkable temperature resistance of 265°F, it proves particularly suitable for durable coverings like steel, aluminum, or copper panels. Furthermore, it seamlessly integrates into a multi-ply underlayment system, complementing our Polystick MTS Plus or the two-ply Polystick XFR assembly. With its blend of protective attributes and versatile functionality, Polystick XFR emerges as a premium asset in the construction process.

Polyanchor XFR

Polyanchor XFR

Polyanchor XFR represents a fire-rated dual-function underlayment, offering both ember and water resistance. Featuring a plastomeric-modified bitumen upper compound combined with a self-sealing SBS-modified lower compound, this product ensures resilient coverage. Furthermore, its aggregated slip-resistant surface enhances its suitability as a waterproof barrier for steep-slope roofing surfaces beneath concrete, clay, and slate tiles, while also providing crucial protection in areas prone to embers. Its versatile functionality makes it an unparalleled solution, optimizing the building process while prioritizing safety and excellence.

How We Stand Out

Continually seeking innovative solutions for modern construction demands, we have responded to the heightened concerns following the 2020 California wildfires. In response to the state’s stringent regulations, particularly outlined in Chapter 7A of the California Building Code, mandating resilience against wildfire embers, we have developed a range of compliant WUI products. These regulations encompass crucial building components such as chimneys, roofs, walls, vents, and eaves, ensuring comprehensive protection within the wildland-urban interface or WUI areas.
