Project Needs and Challenges
After assessing the damage, F. A. Taylor & Son determined that both damaged buildings required a complete roof replacement. They quickly installed temporary repairs to seal the roof and prevent further damage while they waited for the insurance to come through, which didn’t happen until nearly three months after the storm.
Once the project was cleared for completion, the contractors tore out the old modified roof systems, installed new HD coverboard over the concrete substrate, installed Elastoflex SA V for the first membrane layer, and finished it with a cap layer of Elastoflex SA P Polar Cap.
Elastoflex System
Polyglass’ Elastoflex products are a series of high-quality elastomeric membranes designed for optimal long-term weathering performance, also complying with strict Miami-Dade County standards for hurricane protection.
Elastoflex SA V Polar Base membrane is a self-adhered elastomeric base ply built with a high-performance reinforced fiberglass mat for maximum dimensional stability. The Elastoflex SA P Polar Cap is a granule surfaced roofing cap designed to withstand colder temperatures.
Given Maryland’s unique climate that is both hurricane-prone and subject to cold, snowy winters, F. A. Taylor & Son chose this combination of Elastoflex products to ensure the new roof would have long-term all-weather protection. Both Elastoflex membranes feature the patented ADESO® Dual-Compound Self-Adhered Technology for easy self-adhered application.
